What a weekend at Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials!
What a weekend at Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials!

We managed to put the struggles of the last few weeks behind us and had some great runs on some very special horses!
First up was Cooley Park Muze owned by the Rex syndicate who had his first intermediate run and lead from start to finish with a super classy performance to take the WIN what a horse for the future 🥇
Then Chilli’s Jester owned by Chris and Lisa Stone and Chris and Chris and Clare Mathias, and Cooley Couture owned by Pru Dawes were in the Novice. Both horses gave me such beautiful rides and finished on their good dressage scores for 3rd and 8th - they are such classy young horses.
Chilli King, also owned by Chris and Lisa Stone and Chris and Clare Mathias, was up next in the 3* he produced a super test and finished on it with a beyond classy double clear for 5th out of well over 80 competitors. This horse reminds me of Spike, his gallop is unbelievable, with so much scope and bravery. So exciting 👀
Last but definitely not least was Chris and Lisa Stone’s Chilli Knight who was having a prep run in the 4*. He performed a lovely test and a foot perfect double clear with planned time faults to give him a nice fitness run, keep him in one piece and to keep our eye in ready for that “pony club” event next month!!
We could have been right up there with the leaders but I chose to keep it steady (much to Alfie’s disappointment!) and wait to unleash him in a few weeks time.
5 horses 5 double clears and 5 brilliant XC rounds, feel like I’ve retrieved my mojo and am so excited that the rebuild is starting to come good.
Thank you so much to Musketeer Events for putting on a brilliant event and organising such superb weather! It was like being in another country☀️
Huge thanks as always to all my team and my owners for being so very supportive - even through the rougher bits!
Thank god for some good results 🤪

Good first run back at Tweseldown with all the gingers 🧡 (even if they were slightly fresh and pretended they had never jumped on grass before! 🤣🤣)
Strangely someone said to me my god all your horses look the same - that could be because I actually had 3 full brothers and a half sister at Tweseldown this weekend!
Chilli Knight, Jalapeno & Chilli King were all having a very steady run in the OI on Saturday - there are some very exciting things in store for them this year!
The lovely Chilli’s Jester then won his 100 section on Sunday! This horse has come back from a very near death experience so it’s just incredible he’s back bouncing and so happy to be out. He’s such a massive talent for the future.
🧡🧡🧡🧡
Also well done to my stable jockey Hannah Lavender for a lovely DC and 4th on Tillingbourne, another ginger! 🤣🙈
A huge thank you and well done has to go to the Tweseldown organising team who had so obviously worked incredibly hard on the ground to give us the best possible footing!

A rained off Gatcombe resulted in great show at Pyecombe this weekend
A rained off Gatcombe resulted in great show at Pyecombe this weekend

The Brendon Stud boys were pretty awesome this weekend! Thank god because Eventing this year seems pretty tricky! 🌧️🌧️

We started the weekend on plan, jumping (and coming 2nd) in the 1.40M Handicap at Pyecombe on the Brendon Stud's lovely stallion Pandito Van't Merelsnest Z (Wifi)

We then set sail to Gatcombe on Saturday morning with Flash Cooley, Chilli King and Ophelie Van Prinseveld for the OI.

We enjoyed our rainy drive down the M4 for 3.5 hours to find out the rain had taken it's toll on the ground and the class had been abandoned.

So sorry to all organisers and everyone involved, it’s so much hard work and also Gatcombe is one of the absolute BEST events. Such a shame. Yet again another event cancelled due to weather!

We then managed to turn around in the gateway and cause utter carnage because I was absolutely not going to get stuck!!

I’m going jumping!

So, off to Pyecombe we go to jump the 5 Bar Challenge with the Brendon Stud's other lovely stallion, Envoy van't Merelsnest Z (Dime Bar) He was a super star and won the class!

Then yesterday Klent Spot On (Kung Foo) was 3rd on the boss's orders in the Foxhunter and Wifi and Dime jumped unreal in the summer GP for 1st and 2nd. Such good boys.
